Ray Spinaze (1914-2006)
Ray was b. 23 Jul 1914, at Grafton Hospital.
He grew up on a dairy farm at Gundurimba, beside the Richmond River.
Gundurimba is 10km south of (downstream from) Lismore, in Northern NSW.
He may be in the photo on p. 240 of the Stud Book.
He studied at Lismore High, where he was Dux, and topped English.
He became an articled clerk.
During a boat-trip to Sydney for examinations, he met Georgina.
After completing his articles, he bought a practice in Dorrigo in 1940, aged 26.
m. Georgina Cochrane (1913-2001), on 12 April 1941.
Georgina was b. 30 November 1913 in Balmain. See the Cochrane Line.

They set up house in Dorrigo, initially at Green Hedges.
They then built an office and home at ?9 Cudgery St, in town.
In 1951, he bought a block of sand behind the dune at Sawtell, for 300 quid.
They built a brick holiday house on the Sawtell block in 1952.
During the 1950s and 1960s, Ray was instrumental in saving the segments of escarpment rainforest
that were later to become Dorrigo National Park, located here.

He sold the practice in 1977, after 37 years in Dorrigo, and they retired to Sawtell, aged 63.
Ray had a fall from his pushbike in Sawtell in ?1987, aged 73, which had the effect of aging both of them.
Ray and Gina moved to a retirement home at Brookfield on the outskirts of Brisbane in 1991, aged 77.
Georgina d. 9 Nov 2001, aged 87.
